Helen Farrar set up the charity in 1992. Helen works tirelessly and has a regular group of helpers. There are lots of jobs to do, from helping with the cats, to fostering, sorting and pricing the many donations of bric a brac, publicising the group, finding homes, and lastly manning the stall at various events throughout the year.

We are a small independent rescue service and have homed some 2000 cats & kittens since we formed in May 1992. We are based in Chandlers Ford where we have a site with high quality pens and now Winchester, however whenever possible we encourage owners who must give up their cats to keep them at their own home until a new owner is found, as this is best for the cat. There are always more cats needing help than we have space available, even though we also have a team of volunteers who will foster cats and kittens until permanent homes are found.

Although the web is world-wide, we only home cats to homes within a short radius of our base in Chandlers Ford or Winchester, Hampshire! There are a number of reasons for this; it makes it easier for us to do home visits if necessary and provide backup and advice if a cat is experiencing difficulties adjusting to a new owner. There are many rescue groups, both nation-wide and local, and your local vet will be able to give you details of a similar organization in your locality.

To finance this work, we hold numerous fund-raising events; a stall in Winchester at St Maurice's Covert several times a year, stalls at fetes and shows in the summer, and food collections at local supermarkets. Any one who can help in any way - as a volunteer carer, fundraiser, or by donating catfood or goods (bric a brac, toys and books in particular) will be most welcome.
